Join Our Efforts With Habitat For Humanity To Build a Home for a Family In Need
Join Us As We Team Up With The John Cooper School To Build A Home For Robert & Venissa, a Local Family In Need.
Meet Robert & Venissa
Venissa and Robert heard about Habitat for Humanity a few years ago when a friend moved into a Habitat home. After applying to Habitat three times, their third try was a charm and they have been working the program steadily since then.
Robert, who is retired from the oilfield, and Venissa, who worked in hospital housekeeping and home healthcare, are the true definition of a power couple! Even when Robert had a stroke at age 47, they have been unstoppable and have been determined to make the best of their lives! Together they have 7 children and 13 grandchildren, all the way from Wisconsin to Houston.
After applying to Habitat three times, their third try was a charm and they have been working the program steadily since then.
Prior to his stroke, Robert’s passion was racing cars (30 laps going 80 mph!) and riding 4-wheelers. Even after his stroke, the couple stays busy going to classic rock concerts at the Woodlands Pavilion and eating fish at Vernon’s and BBQ at McKenzies. They love all of the Conroe, Texas hot spots! They are thrilled to become a part of the Habitat community in 2022 when they close on their new home.
It is because of the support of our amazing community of members that we are able to make a difference.
We are actively looking for volunteers to support our efforts with the build during the below dates and activities.
- Roof Trusses – Nov 20th
- Dry-In Day – Dec 18th
- Siding/Trim – Jan 29th
- Interior Caulk – Feb 26th
- Paint Exterior/Trim – April 9th
