This Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th, FITNESS PROJECT invites you to take part in something more than just a workout — The MURPH Challenge, a tradition that honors fallen heroes, pushes your limits, and unites our community with purpose.
What Is the MURPH Challenge?
“To honor the brave, challenge your limits, and prove to yourself that you’re stronger than excuses — all before lunch!”
It’s more than a workout — it’s a way to show gratitude, build grit, and be part of something bigger than yourself. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the energy of sweating side by side with your community for a purpose that truly matters.
The MURPH Challenge honors Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who gave his life in service during Operation Red Wings in 2005. This workout was one of his favorites and is now a Memorial Day staple for thousands who choose to honor him — and all who have made the ultimate sacrifice — by pushing their physical limits.
The traditional Murph Challenge includes:

(Weighted vest optional — modifications encouraged!)
Introducing the MINI MURPH: A Scaled Challenge for All
Not ready for the full Murph? No problem — we’ve got something for every fitness level!
The MINI MURPH is a modified version that still honors the spirit of the challenge without the full volume of reps. It’s a great option for beginners, those easing back into fitness, or anyone looking for a shorter, more approachable version.
MiniMurph Example:

Whether you go full or mini, the goal is the same: move with purpose and honor our heroes.

We’re hosting the Murph Challenge at select FITNESS PROJECT locations with our expert coaches leading the way. Come ready to sweat, support, and show up for a great cause!

👟 Most classes are ~60 minutes and co-led by two of our world-class coaches to guide you through the workout with encouragement and modifications as needed.

We’ll be open for regular gym hours at all locations, but please note our special holiday schedule:
🕗 GROUP Classes: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
🎈 PLAY Kid’s Area: Open until 12:00 PM
