Getting Fit for Fall! 5 Ways to FALL into your Fitness Routine

We hate to say it, but all good things must come to an end, including summer vacations. If you haven’t already guessed it, we’re setting out sights on what’s to come in the last half of 2024 and want to help you get psyched for a fitness-fueled fall. Instead of seeing this as a negative thing, embrace the challenge of seamlessly moving through seasons without a hitch and welcome this change with open arms! We’re here to share with you 5 ways to maintain your routine throughout the rest of summer and into the fall. Specifically, a focus on a number of practices and techniques you can adopt to build a mindset around consistency and motivation!

1. Change your mindset!

If you’re like us, you’ve spent the past couple of months indulging in beautiful weather, patio drinks, and beach days. While these aren’t over just yet, the end is near for summer 2022. Before you know it, the sun will be setting earlier, and the days will feel much cooler. Instead of seeing this as a negative change, embrace it with the mindset that a whole new season of outdoor activities and ways to stay active are upon us! Festive holidays are around the corner and a new year on it’s way. This mindset change allows for more opportunity for change and for growth.

2. Make a plan!

If you didn’t already know, the team at FITNESS PROJECT love to make plans and stick to them! Take this as your monthly sign to touch base with your 2022 fitness goals and track your progress. Begin by asking yourself important questions such as the following:

  • What does the perfect fall morning look like for me?
  • What family activities take place during the fall? (This includes kids’ programming and extracurriculars.)
  • What travel plans do I have coming up?
  • What does my community have to offer in terms of fall activities and amenities?

Becoming oriented with what your ideal fall looks like, in conjunction with upcoming plans and responsibilities, you’re setting yourself up for a successful season of healthy living.

This will also help you ease back into a post-summer routine of being mindful to eat better, sleep better, move better! Keep in mind that routines are a good thing. They are intentional, daily actions that see little steps huge leaps towards overall improvement. They help regulate your energy, your mood and overall well-being. In order to stay committed and accountable, find a buddy, sign up for a regular group fitness class, sign up for a challenge, give yourself a reward if you reach your goal!

4. Beat the heat inside!

As we reach the end of the summer season, we also see sky-high temperatures. Oftentimes too hot to get your workout done outside…
With this in mind, we shamelessly plug our air-conditioned facilities as a great option for getting back to your fitness routine. 5. Fall in love with FALL FOODS!

The fall harvest yields so many amazing, nutrient-rich foods which will put an extra pep in your step as they’re incorporated in your fall diet. Fall foods include carrots, kale, cauliflower, spinach, pumpkin, squash, turnip, and more. All have incredibly healthy properties and are a great addition to your diet.
